Where did the name/logo ZOGI Yoga come from?

ZOGI was the name of my mother’s boutique on the Old Brompton Road in London when I was born. She designed and made all the clothes on sale. I have always loved the name, and as my name starts with a ‘Z’ I thought it a perfect name for my business, connecting me to my mother’s creative energies.

My artist father designed the original ZOGI logo for the shop and he has designed my business logo in a similar vein with a few changes.

This has since been developed further with the addition of the peacock feather in the ‘O’. The design of the “O” was inspired by a combination of a peacock feather and the enso symbol, sacred in Zen Buddhism.

The one brushstroke, without modifications, represents the meditative practice of letting go. The peacock represents beauty, love, compassion, spirituality, awakening and protection.

Vishva-ji of Akhanda Yoga often says, ‘Proud Yourself’ which ties into my theme with the expression “proud as a peacock”.

A feather has traditionally been seen as a talisman to protect the wearer from accidents, poisoning, diseases, and other disasters. For this reason, the peacock feather represents immortality, and can absorb negative energies, protecting those who wear them.

Peacock energy can help you on your spiritual path and is a reminder to all of us to show our true colours raising our self-esteem. The peacock colours also resonate with me giving a feeling of richness, luxury, splendour, and strength.
