ZOGI Yoga Community
—
ZOGI Yoga is a place of community where likeminded people can come together to restore, reboot, replenish.
Whether you are stressed and need to unwind, want to get fitter, healthier or just need some space in your day, our yoga classes will support you in connecting with your body, mind and spirit.
Our vision is to create a Kula (community of the heart), where you can heal, grow and connect with your inner truth, quiet the mind, harness your breath to release your true nature.
Who am I?
—
I’m Zophanie, I work with people that need to connect with their bodies, want to become fitter, more flexible, have more energy and live a more active enjoyable life.
I specialize in helping people relax, de-stress and unwind using sound work, yogic philosophy, breath, movement and meditation, as well as coaching running technique.
I started my career as a veterinary nurse 30 years ago. Since then I have taught horse riding and trained horses, worked in business and I became a Chartered Certified Accountant. During those 20 years, I saw how stress affected people to the detriment of their bodies.
I also struggled with my weight, fitness and flexibility, and I saw that I needed to change in order to live the life I wanted. When I was 18, a van drove into my horse which catapulted me onto the road where I landed on my backside.
The vibration of the landing travelled all the way up my spine. It took eight years of treatment for me to be able to return to a normal life and my recovery made me very aware of body alignment and movement and I was introduced to the Alexander technique.
Since then, I have also been exposed to the value of complementary medicine as my youngest daughter has had medical conditions since she was a baby. I went through a messy divorce and was a single Mum for 10 years.
Losing my Dad to a heart attack and my Mum to cancer, made me more aware than ever of the importance of looking after my health.
By changing my lifestyle, I have become much healthier, calmer and fitter, and I have run over 100 marathons.
Using the challenges which I have faced, I now help other people to reach their goals and overcome similar struggles to those that I faced.
I have been running and practicing yoga for about 18 years. However, I’ve always exercised and loved the outdoors, swam, cycled, and rode horses from an early age.
Yoga has helped my flexibility and taught me how to connect with my body; physically, mentally and emotionally. I have channeled my stress into running and yoga which have helped me through life’s ups and downs. They have given me a focus and shown me that I was more capable than I ever imagined.
My Philosophy
—
For me, my health and fitness are my passion and the driving force which form the foundation of my life.
I have learnt that if I don’t look after myself I can’t look after those I love. Therefore, I believe that health and wellbeing are the pillars of life and the keys to allowing one’s passage to opportunity. It is not until you lose them that you realize you have taken them for granted.
I love learning new things, helping and inspiring others.
